1997 ASL Immersion Weekend Workshop

“Visual Gestural Communication”
Presented by Nathie Marbury

Visual Gestural Communication is the concept of using gestures, natural “signs”, symbols, body language and facial expressions to effectively get a message across to another person. Gestures were used long before signs. We will concentrate on various gestures, then incorporate facial expression and body language. Each hand gesture may signify a meaning, idea or emotion. We will do many activities that will generate your creativity to better communicate with others, improve your storytelling, and to help you be more aware of your communication skills. You will gain a deeper understanding of your feelings and those of others, develop your concentration and the ability to listen, and better understand those without language. Wear comfortable clothes – we will really M-O-V-E!
